Guareta Coromoto nasceu em Caracas, Venezuela em 1957. De nacionalidade Portuguesa frequentou a Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes, licenciou-se em pintura na ESBAL em 1981, e desde então reside na Ilha da Madeira. Participa em exposições colectivas desde 1979 e em individuais desde 1995. Os seus trabalhos estão representados em colecções públicas e privadas, em Portugal e no estrangeiro.
Guareta was born in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1957. Having Portuguese nationality, she frequented the National Society of Fine Arts and got her degree in Painting from ESBAL in 1981. She has been living in Madeira Island ever since. Guareta has been participating in collective exhibitions since 1979, and in individuals since 1995. Her work is displayed in public and private art collections, in Portugal and other countries.
Olhar no passado...
Pinheiros naturais, odores, seivas e seus habitantes. Cor, muita cor, formas diversas, bolas, fitas, gambiarras e muitas personagens... E no fim o manto de neve. Um caos festivo. Os gestos convergem em resultados de valores poéticos individuais.
Olhar no presente...
Pinheiros artificiais, bolas de papel, cordões, materiais não prejudiciais à participação activa de seres peludos e felinos... A realização formal do objecto artístico apresentado (pinheiro em estrutura metálica forrada a tela), tem uma orientação autoral, uma linguagem figurativa e gestual, incidindo numa narrativa da organização do caos festivo à volta do pinheiro. A expressividade pictórica inscreve desde as cores puras, as texturas e ao desenho gravado, havendo a possibilidade de representar volumetricamente os seres vivos irrequietos, peludos e felinos que povoam actualmente a minha árvore de Natal, fazendo parte dela.
Look in the past...
Natural trees, fragrances, saps and its inhabitants. Color, lots of color, different shapes, ornaments, ribbons, Christmas lights and many characters… And in the end, a mantle of snow. A festive chaos. The gestures converge with every individual’s poetic values.
Look in the present...
Artificial trees, paper ornaments, cords and strings, all non detrimental materials to the active participation of the furry and feline beings... This authorial piece (pine tree with a metallic structure lined with canvas), has a gestural and figurative language, that falls upon a narrative about organizing the festive chaos round the Christmas tree. It’s a pictorial expressiveness embracing pure colors, textures and engraved designs, and might volumetrically represent the fussy, furry and feline beings that presently populate my Christmas tree.
